Some pages on our site can only be accessed by members of the organization.  You may have been directed to this page if you tried to access one of those private pages.  If you would like access to the member area of our site, and other Gaylesta member resources, then

It’s Easy. All you need to join is to complete the enrollment process online here and then make payment; then provide proof of licensure (or educational status). Referral members must also provide proof of insurance.

Use this checklist to walk you through these three quick steps.

1- Choose your Membership Type

A. Pre-Licensed or Licensed? Remote? Organizational?

Pre-Licensed Membership

is available to individuals studying to become a licensed clinician, either actively enrolled in an educational program or registered as an intern (ACSW, MFTI, Psychology Intern, Counselor Intern) with the appropriate governing body. Pre-Licensed clinicians can join as Basic or Referral Members.

Licensed Membership

is available to individuals who have been granted a license to provide psychotherapy (LCSW, LMFT, Psychiatrist, Psychologist, LPC, etc) by an appropriate governing body. Licensed clinicians (remote or otherwise) may join either as Basic Members or Referral Members.    

Licensed Remote Membership

is available to licensed clinicians who practice outside the SF Bay area. These individuals do not routinely have the option of participating in our various social and educational events, though they may wish to organize such events with other members in their geographic area; thus remote memberships are priced lower than our standard memberships.

Organizational Membership

is available to clinics or organizations that provide low-fee mental health services for the LGBT community. They may not use this site to promote the private practice(s) of any staff member(s). They are included in the search results of our ‘Locate a Therapist’ search engine when potential clients come to our site to find an LGBTQ-friendly and culturally competent psychotherapist. In recognition of the services they provide to the community, organizational memberships are priced lower than individual memberships.

B. Basic or Referral?

Basic Members

can participate in all on-line activities (forums, groups, email lists, etc), and in numerous social and educational events throughout the year. Groups can be formed within Gaylesta for any sup-population by geographic area or interest, which can be used be members to organize their own local gatherings as well.

Referral Members

have all the benefits of Basic members, plus they are included in the search results of our ‘Locate a Therapist’ search engine when potential clients come to our site to find an LGBTQ-friendly and culturally competent psychotherapist.  Pre-licensed clinicians who join as referral members must indicate their supervisor’s name and license number on all marketing materials, including their Gaylesta Profile. 

C. Summary of your membership options and annual fees:

2- Purchase Your Membership Option

Memberships run for one calendar year from the date of activation. If you pay online, your credit card information will be securely stored on the site of our partner, Authorize.net. Whenever possible, we request that you pay online as this reduces our administrative overhead and ultimately frees more of your membership fees for direct services to our members. Renewal dates are individual to each member.

Memberships can be purchased in these three ways:

1- An annual subscription will be automatically renewed at the same time each year by charging your credit card until you cancel or change your membership. A notification will be sent before the renewal charge is processed, allowing you to cancel or change the membership if you so desire before you are charged for it.

2- A 1-year membership. Members who choose not to purchase a subscription can purchase one year at a time, which will require manual renewal each year. A reminder will be sent when the renewal is approaching; if the membership is not manually renewed then it will be suspended.

3- A 1-year membership paid by check, which you will need to mail in. A reminder will be sent when the renewal is approaching; if the membership is not manually renewed then it will be suspended.

For all three payment methods, you need to send in your verifying information, noted below for each membership type. We will use these to verify your credentials. If this information is not received within 2 weeks after the renewal, your membership will be suspended until it is received.

3- Provide Proof of Licensure or Educational Status

Pre-Licensed Basic members must provide a copy of a current student ID, transcript, intern registration, or other status confirmation.

Pre-Licensed Referral members must provide a copy of a current student ID, transcript, intern registration, or other status confirmation. They must also provide a copy of their supervisor’s licensure and insurance, and a letter of agreement or contract signed by the supervisor and intern stating their professional relationship.  Pre-licensed clinicians who join as referral members must indicate their supervisor’s name and license number on all marketing materials, including their Gaylesta Profile.

Licensed Basic & Licensed Remote Basic members must provide proof of licensure.

Licensed Referral & Licensed Remote Referral members must provide proof of licensure and insurance.

Organizational members must provide copies of the forms registering their non-profit IRS status; as well as a link to a page on their website (or other marketing material) describing the low-cost services they provide to LGBTQ individuals and/or families.

That’s it!

Once payment has been made, you will be able to log in and update your profile. If you have renewed as a referral member, your profile will be immediately included in results by our online Locate a Therapist search engine .

If your supporting documents are not received within two weeks of the date of payment, your membership will be suspended until the documents have been received and verified.

Terms of Membership and Refund Policy

Any credit card data you enter on this site is stored on the secure site of our partner, Authorize.net. All subscription memberships will be charged annually or until membership is cancelled. You will receive a notification before each annual charge is processed. For all 1-year membership purchases, members will receive a reminder when they need to sign on and manually renew their membership.

If your card data is set to expire, you will be sent a notification asking you to log on and update it so that the annual renewal charges can be processed.

If membership is cancelled at any time, the membership will remain active until the end of the subscription term, but no subsequent annual membership renewal fees will be charged. There will be no refund of the membership fee for any remaining portion of the subscription period.

Privacy Policy

Every effort will be made to protect your privacy and to ensure that personal information entered on this site is used only for purposes pertinent to creating and maintaining your Gaylesta membership.
